Weekend Getaway: Amelia Island

Today I thought I’d give you guys a little peek into my trip up to Amelia Island this past weekend! I took a little road trip to spend a few days with my friends, McKenzie and Pearce, and we had the best time together. McKenzie and I were roommates in college, both moved to Tampa after we graduated, and we currently work together over at Emily Ley. She and her husband just built their first home and moved back to Amelia Island (their hometown) a few months ago, and I have a feeling road trips to visit them will be happening very often!

I drove up after work on Thursday so that we could work together from a cute little coffee shop on Friday, and then after work we got started on the sightseeing! We explored the island, ate lots of yummy food, and on Saturday, we drove about an hour north to Jekyll Island. If you haven’t been there, you need to go! Let’s just say, the charm was not lost on this little island! There is so much character and history to be found all over the property.

We ate lunch at Latitude, an adorable restaurant right on the water. We were so excited to find this little gem because it was affordable + had great food and amazing views. There was a live performer playing some music while we were eating, and McKenzie somehow managed to get him to ask the entire restaurant to sing happy birthday to me (her payback is coming!).

There’s just something so sweet about spending a couple of days away from everyday life, so I try to do it often.  I find I’m so much more productive after I step away from emails and chores and daily responsibilities to enjoy some quiet, restful time away (even if it’s just for a day!). Feeling extra refreshed and ready to tackle this Monday!

Happy Birthday, Hannah! Will never forget the performer serenading you or the entire restaurant singing! Good times indeed. Come back soon!
